Leadership may be defined as leading people, through personal sacrifice, to live in and on purpose by fulfilling all that they are gifted to be. A significant percentage of the most studied and referenced leaders in history established conditions/practices that uniquely created a culture that celebrated people’s humanity and encouraged them to thrive on a daily basis. Thus, being a leader requires self-awareness, self-acceptance, and courage to cultivate the internal and external “gifts” that they are entrusted with in every organization. Leadership, in its truest essence, should not be measured by the measure of power a person can yield but by the standard of accountability that a person can uphold towards achieving specified outcomes.
We must be willing to be a benefit to people before we should ever expect to benefit from them
Leaders should prioritize being significant over being successful
Every mission and vision are dependent upon the competence and commitment of people
If people cannot trust a leader and/or organization, they will not invest their selves into the organization
An essential outcome of authentic leadership is the capability to build collective compassion
